A Speedi success at the 2007 Red Dragon Endurance Event
22 October 2007
The 2007 Red Dragon Endurance Ride had another successful year thanks to the help of Speedi-Beet who sponsored both the Golden Dragon and Dragon’s Tail rides.
Jodie Watts captured the 120 km Golden Dragon ride held over two days on her horse Gilly with 325 points.
Young Welsh rider Vicky Brown also had a good ride with Warrens Hill Jalena capturing the race ride Dragon’s Tail with 310 points.
Both winners received a year’s supply of Speedi-Beet. Second and third place winners received a six months supply.
The event was held at the Royal Welsh Showground and attracted 420 entries. One of the oldest rides in the country, The Red Dragon always attracts a lot of interest and many top riders, this year the Home International was also run there.
Organiser Pat Conn said: “Speedi-Beet is hugely popular here at Red Dragon, their sponsorship is much appreciated.”
Simon Parker of Speedi-Beet said: “Speedi-Beet is ideal for endurance horses as it is high in fibre, which helps provide the required stamina for horses to compete over long distances.”
Speedi-Beet from British Horse Feeds provides rapid re-hydration for performance horses whilst optimising energy release rate. This is due to the soluble fibre in Speedi-Beet, which has a high water holding capacity increasing the amount of fluid in the horses’ hindgut. This reservoir can then be drawn upon during prolonged exercise such as endurance riding to help replace water lost through sweating.
